Under an employment contract, employees are entitled to various types of paid leave. On the other hand, under a mandate agreement, you are not entitled to any form of leave.
However, if you have an employment contract this information is for you.
Leave can take different forms:
- ✔️ 20 days per year of paid annual leave (of which 4 days can be requested without advance notice);
- ✔️ 2 days of paid care leave per year (if you are raising a child up to age 14);
- ✔️ 20 weeks of paid maternity leave for either the mother or the father (which the mother can start taking as early as 6 weeks before the child is born);
- ✔️ 14 days paid paternity leave (if raising a child up to 2 years old);
- ✔️ 1 or 2 days paid special leave (in case of a wedding or funeral of a loved one);
- ✔️ unpaid leave upon request (with employer’s consent).
➕ Additionally, this year there will be a favorable change in the law for employees that will introduce 5 days per year of caregiver leave and 2 days of leave due to “force majeure”.
